Frequently Asked Questions

How much do tickets cost?
Tickets are $8 per person and available for purchase at the Pipestone County Museum (507) 825-2563 or (866) 747-3687. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early. Our regular season is Memorial Day through Labor Day weekends with a special, post-season Halloween weekend Walk.
How long is the Walk?
The Walk is through the historic district of Pipestone and lasts about an hour and a half. On the Walk you will visit sites where individuals have experienced encounters with the local spirits and through a historic hotel which is a source of many paranormal activities and sightings.
What should I bring/wear?
The Walks take place outside. We recommend you wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothes and walking shoes. There is a moderate amount of walking and quite a bit of standing. Visitors are welcome to bring re-sealable water bottles and umbrellas, but please do not bring food.
Where can I park?
Parking is free and available on the street or in a parking lot across the street from the museum. Parking is on a first come first serve basis. We cannot provide security for bicycles.
Can I film/record a Ghost Walk?
We request, for the comfort and safety of our guides and other visitors, that you not take video or audio recordings of the Walk. You are welcome to take still photographs.
Are your stories true?
All of our stories come from individuals in our community. We relate the stories that were told to us, by people who believe what they saw and heard. No stories were fabricated for the purposes of the Walks and there are no attempts during the Walk to intentionally frighten the visitors. Tour guides also provide history of the area and two mysteries of the community.
Can I arrange a special tour for a group or family?
Special group tours are available by appointment. A minimum of 10 guests is required for a tour.
Are the Walks appropriate for my kids?
Our Walks last approximately 90 minutes and many kids have a hard time staying focused for the duration. Additionally, some of our stories involve murder and/or death, so may be disturbing to kids. For these reasons, we do NOT recommend our walks for children under the age of 12.
Can I bring my dog/cat/possum on the Walk with me?
Pets are NOT allowed on our Walks as a portion of our walk takes place inside the Historic Calumet Inn. It is also dangerous and against Minnesota law to leave pets unattended in vehicles, so, we ask that all animals be left at home.

Who runs the Ghost Walks?
Ghost Walks guides are all volunteers. The Walks are a fundraising event for the Pipestone Civil War Days in conjunction with the Pipestone County Historical Society museum. All proceeds go to benefit Pipestone Civil War Days and the Museum.
